USB Drive Letter Missing – How to add a drive letter
Unfortunately, YouTube will not let me post a direct link, but that is what it is named. Should be able to find in the list of my videos.
thanks.
Your video is good, you explain everything very clear and easy to understand. Great job.
I do have one question, you mention in the video if your drive does not show up as a new drive or letter and you have another video that can explain how to tackle this problem. Where can I view this video, what is it titled? I am stuck.
In my possession i have a dell XPS gaming laptop. It’s monitor and backup graphics card no-longer works. I have had a look at the Hard-drive and I believe it’s a 2.5 drive. Would this device be-able to salvage my data of it? I believe it’s a SATA drive. Please help me.
you can just buy an external hard drive and copy all your music, photos, videos its cheaper & safer.
I believe you would have to buy a program like MacDrive to be able to read the disk
does it work from Mac to pc
i want to recover my photos from my mac before i reinstall the snoe leopard

OMG it worked! Screw Geek Squad! You’re the best Roger. Thank you so much. I’m going to name my first born FreeCompConsultant or Roger.
Crash means different things to different people. USUALLY if the drive is spinning and NOT making any clunking or weird sounds there is a good chance at recovery.
You can almost always recover data with a VERY expensive recovery service even if not spinning up.
I question his diagnosis after only 5 minutes.
The adapter is pretty cheap and handy to have anyway…
PCRoger.
My harddrive crashed last week, so I took it to geeksquad to recover the data. Even before they looked at it, the technician told me that if the hard drive had crashed there’d be no way to recover the data. He then took a look at it and returned five minutes later to say that nothing was recoverable. Is this true or was he incorrect? Is it worth trying to do this on my own? Thanks for any help.
I was told once that WD hdd need to have all the jumpers (prong connectors, whatever you call them) out if it’s the only drive on the line, which may include external connectors like this one. Try it.
I know my Windows is trashed (BSoD) but how do I know if my hard drive is crashed?
Hi I have the exact same product you are using for this video. THe problem here is I am having some problems with it, but there is little to no techinical support. I have a WD 160GB hdd that is not being read by the computer. I have tried it on two different computers running windows xp and no dice. I have updated all my usb controllers under device manager and still nothing. If you could help me that would be greatly appreciated.
Hi! What if my HD has some corruption. I replaced the hal.dll, but now it’s asking for another file. Checkdisk report was scary!! 4 weeks ago it tanked and started grinding. I rebooted and thats when it started asking for all these files. Will this USB approach still work even with my HD in it’s condition. It is still readable.
I don’t have any stores around me that carry it. There is a link in the description to get it online.
Can you buy this in stores? or only online?
No driver needed.
Got one thanks. where i can get a driver for win xp?
where can I get a driver for windows xp? thanks
It really is slick. There is a link in the video’s description to go pick one up.
That is just to cool.Gotta have one
Should work no problem. Either 2.5″ IDE (older drive) or SATA (newer drive), it will work on either.
If you have the older 2.5″IDE then make sure you have a relatively new PC with USB 2.0 to plug it into.
There is a link in the description to the video to check it out.
is this universal? can be used in toshiba laptop hard drive?
