I have 500gig WD portable drive just fell on me this morning! We are talking about an unhappy thanx! What would be the starting price for data recovery? What subject?

Data recovery is NOT cheep! you will be looking at about .35-.40 a meg .
there are a few things to respect for a data recorvery. First of all, the disk must spinn. A disk with a broken motor that can’t spin anymore is to put in the trash.
Then, if it spins, it needs to show up in your hardware manager in the bios of the motherboard and show up in the diskmanager of your oS.
When those conditions are ok, you need a second disk with anough space to copy the files to.
After that you get a software like Undelete +

and you do it yourself for nuts.
